Sunset Dolphin Cruise - Sunset Cruise Hilton Head

Join us for a dolphin tour at Sunset

When you come along for a Sunset Cruise on Hilton Head Island you will get to see the true beauty of the Low Country. We will set off on a journey around the waterways of Hilton Head looking for Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and other wild life.  This boat tour is great for all ages! With over 170 residential dolphins and around 400 nomadic dolphins passing through Hilton Head waters, it’s no wonder dolphin sightings are so much fun.

As you join us in the golden hour you will get to see a beautiful sunset over the water as well as some great wildlife. We will explore the waters around Pinckney Island National Wildlife refuge and down to Calibogue Sound in search of dolphins.

Our tour guide knows most of our local dolphins by name and will introduce you to them as we come across them. We will teach you how to tell them apart, too! Not only will you get to know the dolphins as individuals, but you will also learn about bottlenose dolphins as a species and how they adapt to our local low country ecosystem.

With this tour you will get 90 minutes to relax on the water and take in the natural sites. Our boat is spacious and holds up to 32 people and sits low to the water for optimal viewing. The boat floor is painted with a mural that includes a life-size Leatherback and Loggerhead Sea Turtle and full size dolphin.

We have props on board to help you better understand our wildlife, they include a dolphin skull, shark teeth, and you will get to learn what a dolphin feels like. We are an eco-friendly tour and encourage you to bring your own reusable water.

As we cruise around the waters we may see: Dolphins, birds such as Bald Eagle, Pelican, Great Blue Heron, Egret, Wood Stork, Spoonbill and more, Sea Turtles, Alligators, Manatees, Sharks, Sting Rays, Blue Crabs, and more.

Where do I check in and board the boat?

Check in is at Hilton Head Harbor Marina (43A Jenkins Rd, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926). Please be checked in at least 10 minutes prior to departure. Once all guests are checked in they will be escorted down a ramp, to the boat.

Is the boat handicap accessible?

Yes! Our tour is handicap accessible. Just let the staff know at check in that you may need assistance boarding the boat.

Can I bring food and water on the boat?

Yes! Please feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks. We strongly recommend reusable bottles versus single-use plastics to reduce plastic waste that ends up in our oceans.

How long does the tour last?

The Sunset Dolphin Cruise is 1 hour and 30 minutes long

Do I have to wear a life jacket?

If you are an adult, you do not need to wear a life jacket. Life jackets are provided for children and we do ask that they wear them.

What happens if we get bad weather at the time of our tour?

We watch the weather closely as it changes constantly in Hilton Head. If the tour needs to be cancelled due to the weather we will let you know as soon as the Captain makes the call. We will either schedule your family on another tour if there is space or we will move the tour to another time. If we are unable to reschedule, we will issue a full refund.

Will I get to see the mermaid on the Sunset Dolphin Cruise?

No, the only tour you will see the mermaid is the Mermaid Encounter Boat Tour.

Do I need a reservation or can I just show up at the time of the tour?

We highly recommend reserving your spot. We sell out most of our tours and very often do not have space on the tours last minute. If you do not have a reservation, we can not guarantee you will be able to get on the tour.

Is there a restroom on board?

No, so please arrive early so you can use the restroom prior to departure.

How far out does the boat go? (choppy, deep water?)

The boat does not go out into the open ocean.  We stay in more shallow water (15' - 40'), and you will see land.

Set sail with us on our Sunset Dolphin Cruise and you will be glad you did. The experience of dolphin watching combined with the sunset will not disappoint. Not to mention you might even learn a few things while you're out there! If you want just a dolphin tour during the day join us on our Dolphin Experience Boat Tour

We have partnered with One Dollar for the Ocean and we donate One Dollar to a non-profit organization for every service booked. Join us on one of our Experiences and help us give back. Come have fun and do something good for our oceans.
